Getting Started with PUBG

PUBG (PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds) is the battle royale game that popularized the genre. Up to 100 players parachute onto a large map, scavenge for weapons and equipment, and fight to be the last player or team standing as the play zone shrinks. PUBG emphasizes realistic gunplay with bullet drop, bullet travel time, and weapon attachments that meaningfully affect performance.

The parachute phase determines your early game. You can free-fall fast by looking straight down to reach the ground quickly at popular locations, or glide horizontally to reach distant areas for a safer start. As a beginner, landing at the edges of named locations or in smaller compounds gives you time to loot without immediate combat. Listen for nearby footsteps and gunfire to gauge how many other players are in your area.

Looting efficiently is critical. Prioritize finding a weapon (any weapon beats fists), then armor (helmet and vest), then a backpack for carrying capacity. Level 3 helmets survive a headshot from a sniper rifle while Level 2 helmets do not β€” this difference alone wins fights. Healing items (first aid kits, bandages, boost items like energy drinks and painkillers) are essential for surviving outside the safe zone and recovering after fights.

The blue zone (play area border) deals increasing damage each phase and moves faster in later circles. Always be aware of the zone timer and your position relative to the white circle (next safe zone). Getting caught in the blue zone in later phases is almost always fatal. Vehicles provide fast rotation but make significant noise, alerting nearby players. Use them for long rotations but dismount and approach the final circles on foot for stealth. Sound is extremely important in PUBG β€” play with headphones and listen for footsteps, vehicle engines, and gunfire direction.
