Destiny 2's three classes each offer distinct fantasy archetypes and gameplay styles. Titans are armored warriors who excel at close-range combat and protecting allies with barriers. Hunters are agile and precise, using dodge abilities and keen reflexes to outmaneuver opponents. Warlocks channel space magic with powerful abilities and support their team through healing rifts and empowering effects.
Each class has access to five subclasses based on elemental damage types. Solar focuses on fire damage, burning enemies, and in some cases healing allies. Arc is about speed, lightning damage, and chaining electricity between targets. Void creates gravitational effects, weakening enemies and generating shields. Stasis (Darkness subclass) freezes and shatters enemies with ice crystals. Strand (Darkness subclass) uses psychic threads to grapple, suspend enemies in the air, and create tangles of damaging energy.
Within each subclass, you customize your build using Aspects and Fragments. Aspects are class-specific modifications that add major abilities or change how your powers work. Fragments are universal modifiers that provide smaller bonuses and can be mixed and matched. This system allows deep build crafting β a Solar Warlock can be built for team healing or explosive damage, depending on your Aspect and Fragment choices.
Exotic armor pieces dramatically alter your playstyle. Each class has dozens of Exotic options that modify specific abilities. For example, Orpheus Rig makes Hunter's Void tether more effective, while Sunbracers give Warlocks unlimited Solar grenades for a short time. Building around a specific Exotic is often the foundation of powerful endgame builds. Combine your subclass choices with complementary Exotic armor and matching weapon elements for maximum synergy.
