Clash of Clans troops fall into several categories based on their role and housing space. Barbarians and Archers are basic troops useful for funneling and cleanup. Giants and Golems are tanky troops that absorb defensive fire while damage dealers work behind them. Wizards and Witches deal splash damage to clear buildings quickly. Wall Breakers and Super Wall Breakers open paths through walls for your ground troops.
Popular attack strategies evolve with each Town Hall level. At lower levels, Giant-Wizard (GiWiz) is effective β deploy Giants to tank, then Wizards behind them for damage. Hog Riders are powerful at Town Hall 7-8, jumping over walls to target defenses directly. Dragon attacks with Lightning spells to destroy Air Defenses become available at TH7 and remain effective through TH8.
At higher Town Hall levels, strategies become more complex. LavaLoon (Lava Hounds tanking for Balloons) is a devastating air attack. GoWiPe (Golems, Wizards, P.E.K.K.As) offers strong ground-based assaults. Hybrid attacks combining Hog Riders and Miners with a Queen Charge (using your Archer Queen to create a funnel) are among the most effective strategies at TH10 and above. Electro Dragon spam is powerful but inconsistent β it works well against certain base layouts but fails against well-spread designs.
Spell selection is as important as troop composition. Rage Spells increase troop damage and speed in an area, Heal Spells keep groups alive through splash damage, and Freeze Spells disable defenses temporarily. The key to successful attacks is creating a funnel β destroying buildings on the edges so your troops path into the core of the base rather than walking around the outside. Deploy cleanup troops on the flanks first, then send your main army through the created gap.
